Floppy Disk

The 3.5-inch floppy disk was introduced by Sony in 1981 and had a rigid plastic case with a floppy magnetic disk inside. In 1997, Sony released the Digital Mavica MVC-FD5, the first digital camera to record images to a floppy disk. A floppy disk didn’t store much and might sound like a silly idea now, but it was actually a very creative solution. Saving digital photos to a floppy disk meant the camera and the computer could read and write to the same media with no special cables or software.
