Common Mistake: Not Checking Backups
Backups are essential to keeping your memories safe, but it’s not a set-it-and-forget it sort of thing. To ensure reliable backups, you need to check them regularly for three things:
- Are your backups working as expected? For example, are your hard drives connected and mounted, are automated features running consistently, and are the latest files copying reliably?
- Have you run out of space? People take more photos then ever, so it’s necessary to check if your backup drive still has sufficient free space. If your backup drive is full, then there’s no space for new files and fresh backups.
- Does your backup drive still work? I know it sounds crazy, but many people reach out to us with dead backup drives and years of lost memories.

Reliable backups require regular check-ups and maintenance to ensure everything’s working as expected. Please reach out if you need help preserving your memories and keeping them safe!
