SyQuest 44/88/200

SyQuest released their 44MB 5.25″ removable disk product in 1988. Compared with floppy disks with a 1.4MB capacity, these disks were very popular with Mac users including graphic designers and service bureaus. SyQuest dominated the publishing industry storage market for almost a decade.

In 1991 Syquest released an 88MB version and in 1994 they released a 200MB version of their removable storage. Each new version was backward compatible with previous devices, and could read and write data on disks of any capacity. The speed, reliability, and backward compatibility of their early drives positioned SyQuest as a dominant player through the late 1990s.
