Betacam SP

Sony introduced the Betacam SP format in 1986 as a successor of the Betamax family of video formats. The SP branding promised “Superior Performance” with higher quality video and audio compared with previous formats. This format was popular in broadcast newsrooms but rare in family movie collections.
