Viewing PDF Files

Viewing PDF Files

There are many different digital file formats, including JPEG for photos, MP3 for audio, and MP4 for video. Sometimes we deliver scanned documents as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file, and our clients then want to know the best option for viewing PDF files. The PDF format was developed by Adobe in 1993, and it became an ISO international standard in 2008.

PDF is a great digital format for multi-page documents that include a combination of text, photos, and graphics. PDF documents can retain very high quality, support archival standards, and print reliably.

One of the reasons PDF is a global standard for digital documents is that the software to view a PDF is free. There are many applications that open PDF documents, and your computer might have come bundled one of these apps by default, but we’ve found no PDF viewer software as reliable as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. It’s no surprise that the company that created the PDF format would offer the most robust PDF viewing software.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is free, available for Mac and Windows, and supports 23 languages. Download it today for the best PDF viewing experience.
