5.25” Hard Drive

Introduced by Seagate in 1980, the 5.25-inch hard drive was designed for the growing personal computer market. It had a capacity of 5MB and cost $1,500 US. The dimensions of hard drives refer to the spinning metal platters inside the drive, not the overall size.
