2.5” Hard Drive

A company named PrairieTek released the first 2.5” hard drive in 1988 with a whopping 20MB capacity. These hard drives were targeted at the emerging laptop computer market and made it possible to design smaller computers that used less power. The thickness of these hard drives varies a few millimeters to squeeze into today’s ultra-thin laptops, but the general form factor hasn’t changed.
