Jaz Disk

Iomega introduced the Jaz removable disk format in 1996 as a successor to their popular Zip disk format. Zip disks were introduced with a 100GB capacity, and Jaz disks were ten times larger with a stunning 1GB capacity.

Iomega released a 2GB version in 1998 which included backward compatibility with the 1GB disks. Unfortunately, the Jaz disk format suffered from reliability issues and saw limited adoption. Iomega discontinued the entire line of Jaz drives and disks in 2002 and the format quickly faded into obsolescence.
